The San Francisco Giants hope to get even in Game 2 against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

The Detroit Tigers look to win three games in a row and this series on Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants. Detroit had lost three in a row to the Cleveland Guardians before this stretch but have only let up one run in back-to-back games. Detroit improved its standings in the AL Central to five games over the Guardians. With the loss, the Giants fell to two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the NL West. Despite the Tigers winning 3-1 in the opener on Memorial Day and playing at home, the San Francisco Giants will still be the slight -120 favorites.

The pitching was stellar once again for the opener after a complete game shutout by Tarik Skubal on Sunday. Keider Montero pitched five scoreless innings while only giving up one hit to give the Giants a tough time. San Francisco collected just four more hits on the night. Riley Greene drove in two runs in the fifth to give all the run support Montero would need. Things got very heated in the bottom of the fifth when Javy Baez struck out on a called third strike looking but it was nowhere close to the strike zone. Baez was livid and had to be held back by managers and teammates. The Giants didn’t score until the sixth inning on a Wilmer Flores RBI single.

The Tigers will start Jack Flaherty to get the series win but he is struggling so far in his second stint with the team with a 2-6 record and a 4.39 ERA. The Giants will have a great opportunity to tie this series when they start Logan Webb, who is 5-4 with a 2.67 ERA.
