On Friday, the San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins will take the field for the first time this weekend at Target Field for a three-game series in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They beat the Colorado Rockies three times before winning two of three games against the Chicago Cubs earlier this week. They are the No. 3 team in the NL West, the hardest division in baseball. They are tied with the San Diego Padres and 1.5 games behind the divisional and MLB-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Twins are just under the .500 mark and could pass over it with a three-game sweep this weekend. At 18-20 this year, they are the No. 4 team in the AL Central, sitting seven games behind the divisional-leading Detroit Tigers. They have won five straight games heading into this week after winning the last two of their series against the Boston Red Sox and sweeping the Baltimore Orioles.

Jordan Hicks will take the mound for San Francisco to start this series on the road. The right-hander is 1-3 this season with a 6.03 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 37.1 total innings. He threw 5.0 innings in his last start, giving up three earned runs on three this with a season-high seven strikeouts against the Colorado Rockies.

Chris Paddack will start the game for Minnesota on the mound. The right-hander is 0-3 this season with a 5.57 ERA. However, with the offensive firepower of Byron Buxton, the defense might not even need to be perfect. Buxton is batting .274 this season, the best on the team. He has a team-high nine home runs and 25 RBIs as well.
