After being swept at home, the Giants open up a 10-game road trip on the southside against the White Sox

With nine losses in their last 13 games, the San Francisco Giants set out on a season-long 10-game road trip on Friday as they begin a three-game interleague weekend series against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox have dropped 11 of their last 14 games, including two of three games against Arizona earlier in the week, snapping a six-game home losing skid with a 7-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Second-year right-hander Landen Roupp (5-5, 3.67 ERA) will be on the mound for San Francisco in search of his third in win in his last four starts as he makes his first career appearance against the White Sox.

Hitting a team-leading .283 this season, Giants left fielder Heliot Ramos saw his five-game hit streak end in Thursday’s home loss to Miami after posting three multi-hit games during that span. Now in his fourth year with the Giants, Ramos is on pace to shatter his career highs in hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs and stolen bases that were all established in 2024 as he took over the everyday job in left field. Ramos was a first-round selection by the Giants in the 2017 MLB Draft before breaking into the majors in 2022.

The White Sox will send veteran right-hander Aaron Civale (1-4, 5.03 ERA) to the mound, having lost his first two starts with the club after being acquired from Milwaukee earlier in June. Now in his seventh season in the Majors, Civale surpassed 600 career strikeouts in his White Sox debut against Texas on June 15.

San Francisco has won four of the last six games against the White Sox since the start of the 2023 season, including taking two of three in Chicago, outscoring the White Sox 31-16 in those three games.
