The Athletics took the first game, 3-1, on the back of a decent outing from Mitch Spence. He threw five innings, allowing only one earned runs on seven hits. They went into the ninth inning tied 1-1 with only a solo home run from JJ Bleday. However, rookie Nick Kurtz hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it!

In the second game on Tuesday, the Astros came back with a vengeance and won 13-3 with the win going to Jason Alexander. He allowed two earned runs over six innings with four strikeouts. Cam Smith had an electric night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two home runs and three RBIs. Three other players had a pair of RBIs as well.

Framber Valdez will head to the mound to start this game for Houston. The left-hander is looking for his eighth win of the season, going into this start at 7-4. He has a 3.10 ERA and 96 strikeouts over 90 innings. Valdez has given up two earned runs in each of his last two starts, six total over his last four starts. He also had two massive outings with 23 total strikeouts over 12 innings.

The Athletics will continue this series with Luis Severino taking the mound. The right-hander is 2-6 in his 2025 campaign with a 4.47 ERA and 61 strikeouts through 90.2 innings. Severino gave up one earned run on six hits over 7.2 innings with one strikeout in a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on the road in his last start.
