In Monday’s game, one team will get back to .500 after having a successful series over this past weekend. The Astros were at home – their lone home series in a two week stretch – and took two of three games against the Los Angeles Angels. The offense showed up big in those wins, with a 14-3 win on Friday and then a 7-3 win on Saturday. Those 14 runs are a season high for the Astros, while the seven runs are tied for the second most in a nine-inning game this year.

Meanwhile the Cardinals were at home, and hosted the Philadelphia Phillies. The Redbirds also took two of three games – both in shutout fashion. They won 2-0 on Friday, and then 7-0 on Sunday. Those were the first two shutouts of the year for the Cardinals’ pitching staff.

Righty Sonny Gray will try to keep the pitching momentum going for the Cardinals. Gray will be making his fourth start of the year. His last start was his best so far in 2024 – he allowed one run on three hits in five innings, while striking out four batters. Gray will face lefty Framber Valdez for the Astros.
