Houston has the second-best record in the Major Leagues at 52-27, holding a commanding 13.5-game lead in the AL West, as it faces the last-place Royals this week in Houston. Kansas City is struggling this season with a 29-49 record at the bottom of the AL Central.

Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez completed Houston’s largest comeback victory of the season when they erased a five-run deficit in game one on Monday. Yuli Gurriel’s single tied the game in the eighth inning for the Astros, setting up Alvarez for the game-winning solo shot in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Astros a 7-6 victory.
Kansas City built their lead thanks to a two-run single by Andrew Benintendi and a pair of solo home runs by MJ Melendez. However, Alvarez and Kyle Tucker led the Astros back to make it seven wins in a row.
The Astros and Royals will continue a four-game series at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night.
