Los Angeles relied on the long ball in its 4-1 victory on Wednesday. Will Smith hit a two-run shot in the first, Cody Bellinger added a solo homer in the second and Trea Turner provided some insurance in the ninth with a solo blast. That was more than enough for starter Tony Gonsolin, who allowed a run on three hits over six innings.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers are set to give the ball to unbeaten left-hander Tyler Anderson. In eight starts and 10 appearances overall, Anderson is 7-0 with a 2.59 ERA and 0.952 WHIP in 55.2 innings and leads the NL with an 8.83 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
He hasn’t allowed a run in his last three starts, covering 20 innings, and beat the Mets on Friday, striking out five and allowing three hits in six scoreless frames.
Right-hander Dylan Cease will get the call for the White Sox. He is 4-2 with a 3.39 ERA and 1.286 WHIP in 11 starts and 58.1 innings. Cease took a no-decision on Saturday, allowing one hit and two unearned runs in a win at Tampa Bay, but lasted just 4.2 innings. He walked a season-high seven and threw 101 pitches to record only 14 outs.
