The Toronto Blue Jays look to keep it rolling when they host the Seattle Mariners for their first series of the season on Friday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays host the Seattle Mariners for this weekend series starting on Friday night. Both teams are going for their third win in a row and the Mariners have won four of their last five games. The Blue Jays will hit the same mark if they take this opening game. This is the first of two series between these two American League rivals. With a win today and a loss from the New York Yankees, Toronto can tie for the top spot in the AL East. This opening game is viewed as a toss up from the oddsmakers with the Blue Jays holding just a -105 at home. That makes a lot of sense considering the Blue Jays have just one more win than the Mariners on the season.

The Blue Jays won the last two games to earn the victory in their last series against the Atlanta Braves. Toronto won the rubber match on Wednesday 3-1 behind the first homer of the season from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. That homer came in the sixth inning after he drove in the first run of the game in the third off a single. Chris Bassitt went five scoreless innings while only giving up three hits and impressively striking out 10. Bowden Francis will get the start in this series opener on Friday. The righty is 1-2 but has a 3.71 ERA but he was tagged with the loss in his last game against the Baltimore Orioles where he went 5.2 innings giving up three hits and three runs.

The Mariners won their last two games as well to win their series against the Cincinnati Reds. Seattle won the rubber match on Thursday 11-7 in 10 innings. Jake Fraley hit a grand slam in the eighth inning to go up two runs and the game looked over but Seattle didn’t quit. The Mariners hit two homers in the ninth and Randy Arozarena hit the game-tying homer to send the game to extras where Seattle dominated. The Mariners scored four in the 10th highlighted by a two-run double. Bryan Woo will start this series opener. The righty is off to a hot start going 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA.
