Both teams scored all of their runs through the fourth inning in the opener on Friday. Bowden Francis got the win going six strong innings while only giving up one run on five hits for the Blue Jays. It was his first win for the first time in three starts. Bryan Woo didn’t pitch poorly for the Mariners but got the loss going seven innings on three runs off seven hits. George Springer supplied the offense for the Blue Jays grabbing two hits and he scored twice. It was a nice comeback for Springer as he rested the last three games recovering from a sore left wrist. The Mariners lone run came off a homer from first baseman Rowdy Tellez in the second inning.

Jose Berrios will try to follow up the nice start from Francis for the Blue Jays. The righty is 1-1 with a 5.16 ERA after after going five innings giving up seven hits and four runs in a no-decision against the Baltimore Orioles in his last start. The Mariners will counter with Logan Gilbert who is also 1-1 but with a 2.38 ERA. The righty got his first win of the season after a great start against the Texas Rangers where he went five innings while only giving up three hits and one run.
