The Tampa Bay Rays look to stay hot and sweep the Seattle Mariners in the season series finale on Wednesday night. The Rays have already won five games in a row and got back to .500 with a 6-5 win on Tuesday to win the series. Tampa Bay dominated in the opener on Labor Day by the tune of a 10-2 final. Seattle has now lost four of its last five games. The good news for the Mariners is that they still hold the third and final American League Wild Card spot. Seattle has to step it up and quick though, as it only leads its AL West rival the Texas Rangers by one game. Tampa Bay is behind Texas and the Kansas City Royals in that chase, sitting 3.5 games back of Seattle for that spot.

The Rays star became just the fourth player in the history of the game to hit at least 40 homers being 21 years of age or younger in a season. Cal Raleigh also showed off his prowess at the plate with his 51st homer of the season, which extends his MLB record for home runs by a catcher. The Mariners were down one run in the ninth inning after scoring on a sac fly. Raleigh came up to the plate with two outs with two runners on base, but he popped out to end the game.

Tampa Bay will go for the sweep by starting Adrian Houser, who is 7-4 with a 2.85 ERA. Seattle will try to avoid losing three in a row at the hands of the Rays and starting pitcher George Kirby. The veteran righty is 8-6 with a 3.94 ERA. We should be in for a great pitcher’s duel on the mound tonight.
