The Los Angeles Angels go for the series win against the Miami Marlins in Game 2 on Saturday to keep their winning streak alive.
The Los Angeles Angels are doing something that very few expected of them this year. They look to win their ninth game in a row when they host the Miami Marlins Saturday night for Game 2 of this series. The momentum all started with an improbable sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the first Freeway Series sweep for the Angels since 2010. They would then go on to sweep their division rival the Athletics in four games and are now back at .500 after beating the Marlins 7-4 on Friday in the opener. The last time LA was at that mark was on April 24. Now the Angels are only four games back of the first-place Seattle Mariners in the AL West race. The Angels are the -180 favorites to win this series tonight.

Los Angeles won this series opener comfortably with a strong start from Yusei Kikuchi. The lefty went 5.2 innings and while he gave up seven hits, he bent and didn’t break without giving up a run to get his first win of the season. The Angels were up 6-0 before the Marlins got on the board. Taylor Ward hit his 15th homer of the season to get the scoring rolling in the first inning as Sandy Alcantara struggled once again giving up five runs in 5.1 innings. The Marlins are trying to end a three-game losing streak tonight.
They will try to do that by starting Cal Quantrill and tie this series. The righty is 3-4 with a 6.37 ERA. The Angels will counter with Jose Soriano who is also 3-4 but with a 3.57 ERA.
