The Braves finished the 2024 MLB regular season in second place in the NL East division standings, courtesy of an overall record of 89-73. The mark also made the Braves the fifth-placed team in the National League overall, putting them in the NLWCS. Meanwhile, the Marlins finished in last place in the NL East with an overall record of 62-100, which left the team without any postseason action.

The National League was won by the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, who advanced to NLDS where they took a 3-2 series win over the San Diego Padres. L.A. won game one of that series 7-5, thanks to runs from Shohei Ohtani (two), Will Smith (two), Mookie Betts, Gavin Lux and Tommy Edman.

The team then lost games two and three, 10-2 and 6-5 respectively, before taking the last two games of the series to advance to the NLCS.

In the NLCS, the Dodgers were able to win four out of six games against the New York Mets to advance to the World Series.

L.A. won game one over the Mets 9-0, before falling in game two 7-3. The team bounced back to take games three and four, 8-0 and 10-2. After losing game five 12-6, the team took the series in game six with a 10-5 win.

Los Angeles then won the World Series thanks to beating the New York Yankees in five games.
