The Cubs return home on Monday night looking to avoid a second straight loss when they play the Marlins
The Chicago Cubs begin a six-game home stand on Monday night when they take on the Miami Marlins. The Cubs are coming off a trip to New York where they lost two of three to the New York Mets. The Cubs have now lost four of five and it has dropped them to 23-18 on the season. They still sit in first place in the NL Central, but they are just one game up on the streaking St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs get a break in the schedule coming up, though, as their next 21 games are against teams with a losing record. Monday they will look to take advantage when they send Colin Rea to the mound in the opener. Rea has pitched great for the Cubs this season as he is 2-0 with a 2.43 ERA. He had his worst outing of the year, though, is his last start as he gave up five runs on eight hits in five innings against the San Francisco Giants. He had only given up four combined runs in his first seven appearances this season.

Quantrill has struggled this season and he comes into Monday 2-3 with a 7.11 ERA. He did pitch well in his last start as he gave up just one run in five innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He had given up at least three runs in each of his previous four starts and hadn’t made it out of the fourth innng in two of those.
The Marlins come into Monday looking to snap out of their funk as they have lost 11 of their last 14 games and are coming off a series loss to the lowly Chicago White Sox over the weekend.
