In Game 2, Padres pitcher Stephen Kolek became the first pitcher to earn a win after allowing at least six runs in the first inning since Mark Buehrle did so for the White Sox in 2006 in an 8-6 win over the Marlins.

In Game 1 Jesús Sánchez scored two of Miami’s three runs, to go along with another score from Agustín Ramírez. One of Sánchez scores was a solo home run, but it still wasn’t enough.

Ryan Weathers started off the series on the mound for the Marlins with the pitcher going 5.2 innings and striking out six San Diego batters along the way.
