The Marlins are just under the .500 mark heading into this three-game road series. After also sweeping the Washington Nationals, they got swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week in their last series. Matt Mervis has only had 42 at-bats, but he leads the team with six home runs and 12 RBIs. He’s the only player on the team with more than two homers.

Miami will opt to start Sandy Alcantara on the mound to open up this weekend’s series. The right-hander is undefeated this season with a 2-0 record and 12 strikeouts through 15.1 innings with a 4.70 ERA. He gave up four earned runs on five hits with one strikeout over 5.2 innings pitched in his last start, which was his worst of the season.

Zack Wheeler will take the mound for the hometown Philadelphia tonight. The right-hander has been struggling this season with a 4.07 ERA and a 1-1 record. He does have 28 strikeouts in 24.1 innings, though. Wheeler allowed four earned runs on seven hits over 6.0 innings with three strikeouts in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals.
