Clay Holmes lost his first game of the season after getting the start for the Mets in the first game. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Shortstop Francisco Lindor went 0-for-4 on the night, but he batted in the only run in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly.

New York will give the ball to Tylor Megill to start the second game on the mound for the team. The right-hander ended his spring training session with a 0-2 record and a 4.24 ERA with 18 strikeouts. As the regular season gets underway, he will look to turn around what was otherwise a horrendous showing in preseason.

Hunter Brown will take the ball to start the game for Houston in the second game of this series. The right-hander ended his spring training with a 1-1 record and 5.25 ERA with 13 strikeouts. Last season with Houston, Brown had 11 wins with a 3.49 ERA and 179 strikeouts over 170.0 innings pitched, his best season of his career.
