The New York Yankees host the New York Mets on Sunday night in the rubber match to decide this excellent series.

The MLB slate on Sunday will end with a splashy matchup when the New York Yankees host the New York Mets. This is Juan Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium, a place where he has been greeted by plenty of boo birds and fans turning their backs on him running out to right field. This series have lived up to this playoff energy hype, as the winner of this rubber match will win the series. The Yankees won 6-2 in the opener and the Mets came right back in Game 2 on Saturday in a close 3-2 victory to tie the series.

Game 2 couldn’t have been much closer, as it took a sacrifice fly from Francisco Lindor in the ninth inning to break the tie. The run would eventually be the game-winner, as the Yankees went down in order with Aaron Judge striking out to end the game. The Mets avoided a three-game losing streak in the process. They are the only team to still not have a three-game losing streak this season. The Yankees got on the board first with a solo shot by DJ LeMahieu in the third. The Mets went ahead on another sac fly from designated hitter Mark Vientos, but Cody Bellinger was able to tie the game on another solo homer for the Yankees.

We are in for a great pitching matchup for this Sunday night finale. The Yankees are expected to go with their best starter Max Fried, who is tied for first in the league with a 6-0 record and a 1.11 ERA. The Mets will go with David Peterson. While the lefty can’t match those numbers, he can more than hold his own with a 2-2 record and a 3.05 ERA.
