Atlanta was winning most of the game on Wednesday and it looked like it was going to cruise to the series victory with the Braves holding a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh. But the Nationals kept coming back scoring two in the bottom of the inning and matching that total in the eighth. James Wood helped complete the comeback by driving in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth. It erased a great outing for Atlanta starter Bryce Elder who only gave up five hits and only one run in six innings.

The Braves are hoping for a similar outing when they start AJ Smith-Shawver in the finale today. The righty is 2-2 with a 2.76 ERA. The Nationals will counter with righty Trevor Williams who is 2-4 with a 5.88 ERA.
