The Diamondbacks and Nationals begin a three-game series in Arizona on Friday night. Watch the game for free on Fubo.

With the visitors coming off a series victory by winning back-to-back games on the road, the Washington Nationals begin a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

The Nationals took the final two games to earn a series win over the Mariners earlier this week on the first leg of a West Coast trip. Washington is now 26-30 on the season, good for fourth place in the NL East, but the Nats have won two in a row and seven of their last 10 games. Arizona, on the other hand, sits in four place in the crowded NL West with a 27-29 record. The Diamondbacks have lost two-straight and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games. The Nationals will send righty Jake Irvin to the mound against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly in the series opener.

Most recently, Washington took down the Mariners in extra innings by a final score of 9-3 on Thursday night in Seattle. The Nationals scored seven runs in the top of the 10th inning, including a three-run blast by Josh Bell. Luis Garcia Jr. also doubled home a pair of runs before Bell belted his eighth home run of the season.

As for Arizona, the Diamondbacks were trounced by the Pirates in a 10-1 loss to Pittsburgh in Phoenix on Wednsday. Arizona couldn’t solve Pirates superstar ace Paul Skenes, who pitched six-plus shutout innings in the win for Pittsburgh. Arizona’s lone run was scored in the bottom of the ninth when Tim Tawa hit his sixth home run of the season.

The Nationals and slumping Diamondbacks begin a weekend series in Arizona on Friday night.
