Division leading Mariners look to snap their slump in series finale against the visiting Nationals. Watch free on Fubo.

After a blowout victory in the series opener, the Seattle Mariners were shutout at home on Wednesday night and now head into Thursday’s series finale at T-Mobile Park against the Washington Nationals having lost five of their last eight games as they send third-year right-hander Emerson Hancock (2-2, 5.95 ERA) to the mound in search of his second win in as many starts. The Nationals will counter with southpaw MacKenzie Gore (2-5, 3.47 ERA) who is winless in his last six starts despite allowing three earned runs or less in five of those six outings and was dominant in his lone career start against Seattle in 2024 allowing just four hits over seven innings of work with eight strikeouts.

With the second most home runs in Major League Baseball, Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh enters Thursday with at least one hit in seven of his last eight games with four homers in that span. Raleigh, in his fifth season in the majors, is one home run shy of his fourth-consecutive 20-home run campaign after belting a career-high 34 with 100 RBIs last season. A third-round selection by Seattle in the 2018 MLB Draft, Raleigh is seven hits away from 400 for his career.

The Nationals duo of shortstop CJ Abrams and left fielder James Wood have combined for 24 doubles, 23 home runs and 59 RBIs so far this season with both hitting over .280 through the first 55 games. Wood is hitting .333 this month with 13 extra base hits in May and has hit a home run in three of his last four games.

Since the start of the 2022 season, the head-to-head series is split 6-6 against Washington but Seattle is 3-4 at home in that span. Each of the last five games between these teams played at Seattle have been decided by three or more runs.
