NL East rivals meet for the 2nd time this season as the Washington Nationals open a 3-game series with the New York Mets at Citi Field on Tuesday

The New York Mets (42-24) come into the opener of Tuesday’s three-game series at Citi Field with the best record in the National League. The Mets host the Washington Nationals (30-35), who have dropped five of their last seven and hit the road after a 2-4 homestand. New York comes home off a 5-2 Western road trip that included a three-game sweep of the hapless Colorado Rockies over the weekend. Both teams had Monday off entering the series and the Mets come in with eight wins in their last 10 games.
