The Nationals bounced back and evened the series with a 3-0 shutout of Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. Jake Irvin pitched a diamond of a start, going seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Washington’s offensive production was handled by a home run from James Wood and a two-RBI single from Nasim Nunez.

Mitchell Parker will be the next starting pitcher in Washington’s rotation and getting the start tonight. The left-hander is undefeated this season at 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 18.1 innings. He had his worst start of the season last week against the Miami Marlins despite his team still winning. He gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings with just three strikeouts.

Pittsburgh will give the baseball to Bailey Falter tonight. The left-hander is winless this year at 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 15 innings. He gave up three earned runs on three hits over five innings with four strikeouts in a 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. That was better than the seven earned runs he gave up in the start before that.
