The Cincinnati Reds look for their third win in a row and this series win when they host the Washington Nationals for Game 2 on Saturday. After a double header loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in their last series, the Reds have won two games in a row only giving up one run in each game. Cincinnati is just two games out of the first place Cubs going into Saturday. The Nationals meanwhile are trying to switch the momentum up as they have lost four of their last five. Cincinnati will be the -185 favorite to win this series tonight at home.

The opener on Friday was never really in question in favor of the Reds winning 6-1. Cincinnati scored five runs in the first three innings and the Nationals didn’t score their lone run until the fifth. That all had to do with Hunter Greene who was stellar on the mound improving to 4-2 after striking out 12 Nats in six innings while only giving up two hits and one run. A homer by Josh Bell was Greene’s only blemish on the night in his best start of the season. The 12 strikeouts was the second-highest of his career. Greene struck out 14 in 2023 against the Minnesota Twins.

It’s going to be tough to follow that performance but Nick Lodolo will give it his best shot getting the start on Saturday for the Reds. He has also pitched well this season with a 3-2 record and a 2.25 ERA. The Nationals will try to tie this series by countering with Trevor Williams. The righty is 1-3 with a 5.70 ERA.
