The Colorado Rockies look to end a six-game losing streak when they host the Washington Nationals on Friday.
The Colorado Rockies need a breath of fresh air when they return home to host the Washington Nationals for a three-game series starting on Friday night. The Rockies are looking to improve on their worst record in the league sitting at 3-15. That is one game worse than the Chicago White Sox to start this season and that team had the worst record in modern history in 2024. That team was 3-22 to start last season. This is already the worst start of any season in franchise history for the Rockies who have lost 100 or more games in back-to-back seasons. The Rockies are trying to end a six-game losing streak but the Nationals will be favored in this opener with a -135 line even though Washington is trying to avoid losing three in a row and it has already lost four of its last five games.

The Rockies are coming off a 8-7 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers to finish off a sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers. To Colorado’s credit, it did show some fight after getting down 7-1 in the first inning. Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman both hit homers in that seven-run first. The Rockies’ offense has struggled all season but finally broke out especially in the third inning when they scored five runs highlighted by homers from Michael Toglia and Mickey Moniak. But they couldn’t quite pull off the comeback getting swept in six games on their West Coast swing. Colorado will try to bounce back by starting Chase Dollander. The rookie is 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA.
The Nationals lost three of four to drop their last series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Washington lost 1-0 in its last game to lose the series. The only run in the game came in the very first plate apperance for the Pirates with a leadoff homer by Oneil Cruz. Andrew Heaney had full control on the mound going 7.1 scoreless innings while giving up five hits against the Nats. Trevor Williams got the loss for Washington despite pitching well for five innings only giving up the homer and three hits. The Nationals will start MacKenzie Gore tonight who is 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA.
