After a postponed series opener, the Colorado Rockies will start this series on Saturday afternoon against the Washington Nationals.

The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals hope to actually get this series started on Saturday afternoon. The opener of this first series between these National League opponents was postponed due to winter-like conditions with the Denver metro area being hit with snow all day on Friday. That game has been rescheduled for 6:10 p.m. this Sunday, April 20 as the second game of a doubleheader. The first game on Easter Sunday will start at 1:10 p.m. so this series will be played in its entirety this weekend. The weather should be better for today’s start with the temperature expected in the mid 40s. Meanwhile the Rockies are hoping to push past that win total for the season after a tough 3-15 start to the season. Subsequently, Washington is the -135 favorite on the road today for the series opener.

Both teams will shift their Friday night starters into this Saturday slot with Colorado starting Chase Dollander. The rookie is 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA. The righty had his best start of his season but earned his first career loss after going 5.2 innings while only giving up three hits and two runs while striking out seven. The Rockies actually outhit the San Diego Padres in that game but were not able to score all series. Colorado is looking to avoid losing seven in a row tonight.

Washington isn’t doing much better lately losing four of its last five as it tries to avoid losing three in a row tonight. The Nationals will start MacKenzie Gore tonight who is 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA. Gore had his toughest start of the season in his last appearance against the Miami Marlins where he went six innings while giving up eight hits and four runs but he struck out seven in a game that the Nationals would go on to lose 11-4.
