Tuesday’s game saw the Astros win 8-2. Five of Houston’s 10 hits went for extra bases. That included the 19th home run of the season from designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, who is now tied for the fourth-most homers in baseball. Second baseman Jose Altuve also went yard, hitting his 13th of the year.
These are two of only five teams to cross the 40-win mark this season. The Astros are 42-25 on the season, which had them 10 games up on the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West. The Mets are 45-25, five and a half games up in the National League East ahead of the Atlanta Braves.
Wednesday’s pitching matchup has righty Carlos Carrasco going for the Mets up against the Astros’ Luis Garcia. Carrasco has a 3.96 ERA this year with an impressive 8-2 record, while Garcia is 4-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 2022.
