Former American League East foes Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts combined for four RBIs in that inning to lift San Diego to a 4-3 win. The Padres will try to keep the winning streak going when the two teams play the middle game of this series on Tuesday night.

The Padres will throw another familiar face at the Yankees on Tuesday night, with righty Michael King getting the start. King began his career with the Yankees and pitched for New York for his first five Major League seasons before being dealt to San Diego as a part of the Juan Soto trade prior to the 2024 season.

King’s first year-plus in San Diego have been excellent, and he’s been great to start this season. He’s 4-1 in seven starts with a 2.09 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He has 46 strikeouts and just 12 walks in 38.2 innings pitched.

The Yankees will have righty Clarke Schmidt on the mound for this one. Schmidt has a 5.52 ERA through his first three starts this year.
