The Philadelphia Phillies try to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Houston Astros on Thursday. Watch for free on Fubo.

The Houston Astros try for the series sweep Thursday afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of this 2022 World Series rematch. This is the only series of the season between these two. The Astros have had their way in the first two games to win the series. These have been very close pitching duels though, with the Astros winning 1-0 on Tuesday and 2-0 on Wednesday. Houston is going for its fourth win in a row this afternoon. The Astros have a comfortable 5.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners for first place in the AL West. The Phillies meanwhile are trying to avoid losing three in a row and four of their last five games today. The good news for Philadelphia is that it is still in first place in the NL East. The Astros will be the -150 favorites to earn the sweep on Thursday.

The Astros earned their second straight shutout in big thanks to Colton Gordon. The lefty improved to 3-1 on the season by going five scoreless innings while only giving up four hits. Houston’s bullpen only let up one more hit. Zack Wheeler wasn’t bad whatsoever but he still earned the loss by giving up a RBI infield single to Isaac Paredes in the first inning. Wheeler went six innings while striking out eight, and only gave up four hits himself but couldn’t get any run support. Victor Caratini hit an insurance homer in the eighth inning for the Astros.

Houston will look to Hunter Brown to keep up this momentum on the mound. The Astros have just the person to do so, as the righty is 8-3 with a 1.88 ERA. This is shaping to be another pitcher’s duel though, because the Phillies will start Cristopher Sanchez who is 6-2 with a 2.87 ERA.
