Philadelphia came out dominant, the exact opposite of its entire last series with Milwaukee. Trea Turner and Bryce Harper both homered in the first inning, as Max Kepler, Bryson Stott, and Nick Castellanos had RBIs in the first two innings. Turner would end up scoring Philadelphia’s last run on a solo homer in the eighth inning, his second of the night. Only three players left hitless on the night.

Mick Abel will head to the mound to start this game for Philadelphia. The right-hander is looking for his second win of the season in the second start of his career. He was brought up from Triple-A Leigh Valley earlier this season in a spot start for the injured Aaron Nola. After throwing six scoreless innings with a franchise record nine strikeouts, Abel was sent back down in favor of Tiajuan Walker. Now, he is back.

Toronto will continue this series in the second game with Jose Berrios on the mound. The right-hander is 2-2 in his 2025 campaign with a 3.86 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 70 innings. He started his last game against the Athletics in a dominant performance. He threw six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, giving up only two hits.
