The Philadelphia Phillies will take the field for the final game in this three-game series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon at National Park in Washington, D.C. The Phillies are 2-0 this season and are now looking for the fresh, three-game sweep in DC on Sunday. They took the first game 7-3 in the 10th inning after going into extra innings with a 3-3 score. Jose Alvarado picked up the win after Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto hit the go-ahead and insurance RBIs in the 10th inning. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber homered earlier in the game.

After taking Friday off, Philadelphia came back and won on Saturday in an 11-6 game. Jesus Luzardo picked up the win after going five innings with 11 strikeouts, allowing two earned runs. Bryson Stott, Edmundo Sosa and Schwarber all homered in this win. Schwarber and Marsh had three RBIs each, as well. Amed Rosario, Nathaniel Lowe, and Keibert Ruiz all homered as well for the Nationals.

In the fourth game of this series, Philadelphia will put Aaron Nola on the mound to start the game. The right-hander finished his 2024 campaign with a 14-8 record overall and a 3.57 ERA with 197 strikeouts. He didn’t throw in spring training so this will be his first action of the season.

Washington is going to put Mitchell Parker on the mound for the series finalé. Park finished his 2024 campaign with a 7-10 record and an inflated 4.29 ERA with 133 strikeouts. He ranked No. 74 in the MLB in strikeouts last season. He also boasts a 1.30 WHIP.
