The loss dropped the Cubs to 42-28 on the season, but they still have a comfortable lead in the NL Central. Saturday the Cubs will send Matthew Boyd to the mound as they try and clinch at least a series split with the Pirates. Boyd comes into Saturday 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA. He has given up just four combined runs in his last two starts, but the Cubs have lost both games. They had won his previous three starts, but have struggled to score runs with him on the mound lately. Saturday they are hoping to reverse that trend and avoid a second straight loss to Pittsburgh.

The Pirates, though, will look to shut down the Cubs offense again as they try and pick up another big road win.

The Pirates will send Mike Burrows to the mound in the third game of the series. Burrows is 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA on the season.

Burrows will be making just his fifth start of the season. The Pirates lost his first start, but have won his last three.

He has failed to make it through five innings in two of his four starts this season, but the Pirates have still won both of those games.
