The comeback was too late though, despite the Mariners doubling the Royals hit total. The Royals scored all of their runs in the seventh, which was good enough to tie the series. Pittsburgh swept its second consecutive series on Wednesday, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 5-0. More impressively, the Pirates did not allow a single run in its series against the Cardinals, earning three shutouts in a row. Pittsburgh went 6-0 on the home stand with a strong start from Mitch Keller, who went seven scoreless innings while striking out seven. Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a two-run single in a four-run eighth to run away with the game. The Pirates will try to keep it rolling away from home when they start Bailey Falter who is 6-3 with a 3.62 ERA.
