Jeimer Candelario blasted a two-run home run just two batters later to extend the lead. Elly De La Cruz scored the final run for Cincinnati in the third inning on an error. Adam Frazier also hit a two-run home run for Pittsburgh, but they couldn’t find the game-tying runs.

Pittsburgh will stay on the road and start pitcher Andrew Heaney on the mound. The left-hander is 0-0 this season through two starts. He has thrown 12 strikeouts in 12 innings with a 1.50 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. His last start ended in a 5-4 extra-inning win against the New York Yankees. He threw seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with 10 strikeouts in an elite performance.

Andrew Abbott will make his 2025 season debut for Cincinnati on the mound at home in the second game of this season. The left-hander spent the first part of the season on the injured list and is now back and ready to go. He finished his 2024 campaign with a 10-10 record and a 3.72 ERA with 114 strikeouts over 138.0 innings.
