The Cubs look to bounce back from a loss on Monday night when they host the Rangers

The Chicago Cubs welcome the Texas Rangers to town on Monday for the first of a three-game series. The Cubs come into Monday looking to get back in the win column after they blew a four-run lead to the San Diego Padres on Sunday. The Cubs scored seven runs in the first two innings to build that lead, but they let the Padres come all the way back and they lost 8-7. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Cubs and dropped them to 7-5 on the season. The Cubs were going for a sweep of the Padres, but an error in the top of the ninth allowed the winning run to score. The Cubs will now turn to Justin Steele in the first game against the Rangers. Steele comes into Monday 2-1 on the season, but he has a 6.89 ERA and he hasn’t pitched particularly well. He has given up at least three runs in each start, but has gotten great run support in the lsat two games.

The Rangers will look to touch him up as they try and win a sixth straight game. The Rangers have been playing great as they beat the Cincinnati Reds by a 1-0 score in consecutive games and then swept the Tampa Bay Rays at home.

They are now 8-2 on the season and have won eight of their last nine after dropping the first game of the year to the Boston Red Sox.

Nathan Eovaldi will take the ball in the first game of the series on Monday. Eovaldi has been great in his first two starts. He went six innings of two-run ball in his first start and then pitched a complete game shutout against the Reds on Tuesday.
