After snapping four-game losing skid, the Rangers open a six-game road trip at Fenway as series begins against the Red Sox

With losses in nine of their last 12 games, the Texas Rangers have lost four consecutive series as they begin a three-game mid-week set at Fenway Park on Tuesday night against the slumping Boston Red Sox in a matchup of preseason contenders for the American League pennant. Boston has lost four of their last five games overall and four of their last five at home after a pair of narrow one-run defeats to Minnesota over the weekend. The Red Sox send veteran right-hander Lucas Giolito (0-0. 4.50 ERA) to the mound in his second start of the season after missing the first month of the season with a hamstring injury.

In his first year with the Red Sox, Alex Bregman is paying immediate dividends for Boston hitting a team high .317 having driven in 27 runs, tied for eighth in Major League Baseball and is fourth in the league with a .979 OPS. Bregman, who spent the first nine years of his career with Houston, helped the Astros claim a pair of World Series titles and is now one home run shy of 200 for his career. The 31-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico native belted a career high 41 home runs in 2019 and has hit 23 or more dingers in each of the last three seasons.

The Rangers will start veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (2-2, 2.11 ERA) who has been stellar on the bump this season allowing two earned runs or less in six of his first seven starts this season while posting seven or more strikeouts five times in that span. Texas has let their ace down scoring just 10 combined runs over Eovaldi’s first seven outings.

Texas won the first series against Boston this season taking three of four at home in their season opening series back in late March but have lost nine of their last 11 games at Fenway.
