The Rangers are trying to get back to .500 with a win today. The Rangers a 5.5 games back from the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League. Kansas City is doing a little bit better with two more wins than Texas with 63. The Royals are a position ahead of the Rangers, sitting four games behind the New York Yankees for that last spot. The Royals are coming off a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox, winning 6-2 on Sunday. Johnathan India and Adam Frazier both hit two-run homers, to help Kansas City to complete the rally. Kansas City was down 2-0 going into the seventh inning. The Royals didn’t have anything against Chicago starter Davis Martin only getting one hit in the first six innings. Then the Chicago bullpen completely collapsed with the Royals earning seven more hits in two innings. Kansas City will look to stay hot by starting Michael Wacha, who is 7-9 with a 3.35 ERA.

The Rangers earned a 10-4 win on Sunday to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. The win ended a four-game losing streak, and Texas was 1-8 before Sunday’s game. Marcus Semien returned to the lineup after missing Saturday’s loss with a sore wrist. The Rangers needed him too, with the second baseman hitting a homerun and scoring twice. Nathan Eovaldi pitched great also going seven innings while giving up just two runs. It was very impressively Eovaldi’s seventh consecutive win in as many games. Texas will hope for similar results tonight when it starts Jack Leiter who is 7-6 with a 3.94 ERA.
