Surging Rays look to keep winning streak alive in matinee matchup against the Blue Jays
Riding a three-game winning streak and having won five of their last seven games, the Tampa Bay Rays return to Rogers Centre today for the second game of their three-game weekend divisional series against the Toronto Blue Jays in a Saturday matinee. The Rays rode Tyler Alexander’s perfect game bid into the eighth inning of Friday’s matchup holding on to win 4-3 for their third win in the last four games against Toronto. Today Tampa Bay turns to veteran right hander Zach Eflin (3-4, 3.91 ERA) in search of his third win in as many starts despite allowing a home run in each of his last four starts.

Rays third baseman Isaac Paredes ranks 18th in MLB with his team-high .303 batting average while also leading Tampa Bay with 24 RBIs this season. The 25-year-old Mexico native is in his third season with the Rays and has been key to Tampa’s success this month hitting .333 with seven RBIs and five multi-hit games this month.
Toronto will counter with southpaw Kevin Gausman (2-3, 4.95 ERA) in his first outing after being roughed up for six earned runs in three innings of last Saturday’s 10-8 win against Minnesota. Gausman has tallied over 200 strikeouts in each of his last three seasons including a career-high 237 with the Blue Jays last year.
Tampa Bay has won three games in a row in Toronto including four of the last five dating back to April of 2023.
