The Yankees look to bounce back from a loss on Friday night when they host the Rays in the first of a three-game series.

The New York Yankees open up a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night. The Yankees come into Friday looking to bounce back from a loss on Wednesday to the Baltimore Orioles. It was the second loss in three games to the Orioles and dropped the Yankees to 18-13 on the season. Despite the loss they still sit in first place in the AL East. Friday’s game is the first of six straight at home for New York. The Yankees will start Max Fried in the first game of the series on Friday. Fried has been great in his first season with the Yankees as he comes into Friday 5-0 with a 1.19 ERA. He did give up six runs in his first start of the season, but has given up just four combined runs in his last five starts. Fried has been the best pitcher for the Yankees this season and will look to stay undefeated on Friday night.

The Rays, though, are hoping to deal him his first loss of the season as they try to snap a three-game losing streak.

The Rays went into their series with the Kansas City Royals on a five-game winning streak, but they scored just three combined runs in three games. The bats went silent and it cost them three straight games to the Royals.

The Rays now sit at 14-17 on the season and they are in fourth place in the AL East. They are ahead of the Baltimore Orioles and just behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the standings.

The Rays will send Ryan Pepiot to the mound in the opener on Friday night. Pepiot comes into the game 2-3 with a 4.24 ERA. He had his best start of the season against San Diego on Saturday as he gave up one run on three hits in the win.
