The New York Yankees look to keep the momentum rolling and win this series on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The New York Yankees go for the series win on Saturday afternoon in Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees are already holding a commanding 4-1 series lead overall against the Rays so far this season. New York won the opener 3-0 in a nice comeback win after losing its previous series against the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays meanwhile are reeling and trying to avoid losing five in a row today. Tampa Bay was swept in its last series against the Kansas City Royals. This streak has come after the Rays won five in a row. Their offense has struggled tremendously in these last four games scoring a combined three runs, getting shut out twice. New York will be the -180 favorite to win back-to-back this afternoon.

The 3-0 win is the third time the Yankees have shutout the Rays this season. Max Fried turned in an absolute gem going seven scoreless innings while only giving up one hit. He improved to 6-0 already on the season and his ERA has dwindled all the way down to 1.01. His pick up after playing for Atlanta couldn’t have been more clutch especially with Gerrit Cole going down before the beginning of the season. The bullpen didn’t give up another hit to complete dominate Tampa Bay. Fried became the league’s first six-game winner in the process. New York scored all of its runs in the fifth inning off a three-run Paul Goldschmidt homer.

The Yankees will look to get back-to-back great starting performances when they roll out Clarke Schmidt on Saturday. The righty is still looking for his first win of the season with a 0-1 record and a 5.52 ERA. The Rays will look to bounce back and tie this series by starting Zack Littell who is 1-5 with a 5.03 ERA. Looks like we should anticipate more of slugfest than what we saw on Friday night.
