The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox play their last game of the season against one another on Sunday afternoon. As the calendar flips to June, the Braves are leading this season series 3-2. This particular series is tied going into the rubber match today. The first two games have been nearly identical. Boston won the opener 5-1 and the Braves came back on Saturday night to win 5-0. Atlanta won the first series 2-1 nearly two weeks ago. Boston has now lost four of its last five games. Despite all of this, the Red Sox are the -145 favorites to win the series this afternoon and tie the season series.

The Braves were dominant on Saturday because of Spencer Schwellenbach. The righty made sure his 25th birthday was a special one going 6.1 scoreless innings while giving up five hits and impressively striking out 11 batters to improve to 4-4. The bullpen didn’t give up another hit giving the Red Sox no chance at a comeback. Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. gave the Braves more than enough run support for Schwellenbach with both hitting homers. Both of those homers came in the fourth inning where the Braves put up four runs and never looked back. Walker Buehler struggled giving up all five of those runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings.

The Red Sox will try to take advantage in this rubber match by starting Garrett Crochet who is 4-4 but has an impressive 2.04 ERA. The Braves will try to win this season series outright by starting Bryce Elder. The righty is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA.
