Washington is trying to avoid losing three in a row today, after winning its last series against the first-place Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox will still be the favorite to earn the sweep, despite being on the road. This is the only series of the season between Boston and Washington.

Walker Buehler won his first road game for Boston since April 26 on Saturday, in a strong performance against Washington. Buehler improved to 6-6 on the season, after going five innings while giving up two runs. Boston didn’t waste any time giving Buehler any run support as they scored nine runs through three innings. Ceddanne Rafaela led the charge for Boston with three RBIs highlighted by a two-run homer in the third. Washington was down 9-0 before it got on the board in the third. The rout was incredibly Boston’s 10,000th victory in its illustrious history.

Boston will go for win No. 10,001 and the sweep by starting Garrett Crochet. The lefty is one of Boston’s best with an 8-4 record and a 2.34 ERA. Washington has yet to announce a starter for Sunday’s finale.
