Sean Newcomb and the Boston Red Sox will open up a three-game series on Monday against Cade Povich and the Baltimore Orioles.

The Boston Red Sox will take the field for the first game in this three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland. The Red Sox walked away from their first series of the season with a 1-3 record in four games. They went into the season on a high note, winning the first game on Opening Day 5-2, but everything went downhill after that as they lost the next three games 4-1, 4-3, and 3-2. Wilyer Abreu has been the best at the plate for the team through four games with two homers and six RBIs.

The Orioles also played four games in their opening series of the season and split the series 2-2 with the Toronto Blue Jays. They won on Opening Day as well, 12-2, before losing the second game, bouncing back for the third, and finishing the series with a loss. Jordan Westburg is on fire to start the season at the plate. He is batting .462 with three home runs and three RBIs.

Boston will open the series with left-hander Sean Newcomb on the mound to start the game. Newcomb is a seasoned vet on his fourth team in nine seasons. He will get his first start for Boston after spending the last two seasons with the Athletics. It has been an up-and-down career for Newcomb, who hasn’t seen more than two starts in a season since 2020.

On the other side of the matchup, Cade Povich will get the start for Baltimore as it matches a lefty for a lefty. The left-handed starter finished his 2024 campaign with Baltimore in his first season in the majors with a 3-9 record and a 5.20 ERA with 69 strikeouts and a 1.43 WHIP. He will look to improve on those stats heading into his second season.
