Walker Buehler makes his debut with the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of this opening series against the Texas Rangers on Saturday.

The Texas Rangers host the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 on Saturday of this four-game set to open the season. This has been an even series so far with these teams splitting the first two games. Wilyer Abreu hit a three-run shot to lead Boston to a 5-2 win on Opening Day. Jonah Heim helped the Rangers bounce back on Friday hitting two homers to lead Texas to a 4-1 win. This game is essentially a coin flip tonight with both teams earning a -110 line. Even Vegas doesn’t know who to pick tonight. Maybe the Rangers take it just because of home field advantage but these two are both clamoring to get back to the postseason after posting similar records in 2024.

While Heim was the star on offense in Game 2, it was Jack Leiter taking over on the mound for the Rangers. Leiter got his first major league win in the process after going five innings giving up five hits with one earned run. Abreu scored the first run of the game for Boston on a RBI single in the fourth inning right after Heim hit his first homer of the game in the third. Heim homered again in the fifth and Texas never looked back. Boston had the bases loaded in the top of the seventh but Rafael Devers struck out and Josh Jung made an amazing backhanded play to get out fellow third baseman Alex Bregman to get out of the inning unscathed.

Walker Buehler will be making his debut for the Red Sox on Saturday. Buehler got the final out of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2024 World Series victory. Buehler had seven season in LA and went 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA after not pitching at all in 2023. Buehler is looking forward to a full healthy season in his first year in Boston. Tyler Mahle will take the mound for Texas as this is his debut for the Rangers. Mahle had six seasons in Cincinnati, two years in Minnesota and played his first season in Texas last year. The righty went only 12.2 innings with a 4.97 ERA with the Rangers in 2024.
