Sean Newcomb and the Red Sox will open a three-game series on Friday night against Davis Martin and the White Sox.

On Friday night, the Chicago White Sox will open their six-game home stand, facing the Boston Red Sox in the first game of a three-game series at Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Red Sox head into this series with an even 7-7 record overall this season. They are the No. 3 team in the AL East behind the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. They are fresh off of a series with the Blue Jays where they lost two of three games, avoiding the sweep in the last game on Thursday. Wilyer Abreu leads the team at the plate with three home runs and 12 RBIs with 10 runs.

The White Sox have picked back up this season where they left off last year. They are 2-10 heading into this game and were swept by the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians on their six-game road trip. Only two players on the team have more than one home run, lead by Andrew Benintendi, who has two homers and six RBIs with five runs on nine hits this season.

Sean Newcomb will open the series on the mound for the visiting Boston team. The left-hander is 0-1 this season with a 5.19 ERA and nine strikeouts over 8.2 innings pitched. He went 4.2 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts in a game Boston won 5-4 in the 10th inning.

Chicago will start the top of the first inning on the mound with Davis Martin pitching. The right-hander is also 0-1 this season with a 5.73 ERA and just four strikeouts over 11.0 innings. Martin had a terrible last start that he will look to rebound from. He allowed seven earned runs on nine hits in five innings with just two strikeouts.
