The Guardians are coming off of a 2024 MLB regular season campaign in which they were able to finish atop the AL Central division standings, courtesy of an overall record of 92-69 so far this season. The team’s mark also left Cleveland second overall in the American League table, behind only the New York Yankees who finished with an overall record of 94-68. The Guardians faced the Detroit Tigers in the ALDS, where the team from Ohio took the series in five games. The team then lost in five games to the Yankees who advanced to the World Series following game five at Progressive Field.

Cleveland won game one of the series against the Tigers 7-0 thanks to runs from Steven Kwan (two), David Fry, José Ramírez, Josh Naylor, Lane Thomas and Jhonkensy Noel.
Then, the Guardians lost in games two and three to go down 2-1 in the series against Detroit. The Tigers won both of those games 3-0.
The team from Ohio was then able to bounce back to take games four and five as well as the series to advance to the ALCS.
Cleveland won game four 5-4 at Comerica Park thanks to runs from Kwan (two), Fry, Ramírez and Brayan Rocchio.
Finally, the Guardians won game five 7-3 at Progressive Field.
