The worst start in Colorado Rockies franchise history continues as they host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday for Game 2 of this series. The Rockies historically usually get off to a hot start in April but teeter out in the late months of summer. Not a lot of expectations were set at 20th & Blake to start the season but even Rockies fans couldn’t imagine that the team would get off to a 4-21 start. The Rockies are already 12.5 games back in the stacked NL West division. They are trying to end a four-game losing streak this afternoon after dropping the opener 8-7 on Friday and getting swept in their previous series against the Kansas City Royals. Cincinnati is going for its third win in a row and are favored with a -190 line to do so on Saturday.

The opener was a back-and-forth game between the Rockies and Reds but Colorado was always the one catching up. In almost every inning, Colorado would match what Cincinnati did in the top of the inning. It looked like the game was going to keep following that pattern late in the evening. Cincinnati scored two runs on a bases-loaded walk and a ground out to first. The Rockies would get a homer in the bottom of the eighth on a Jordan Beck homer which was his second bomb of the night. But the Rockies just couldn’t find that elusive tying run with surrendering 13 hits and committing two errors was just too much to overcome and complete the comeback.

Colorado will have a tough time tying this series today because Cincinnati will be starting one of its best in Hunter Greene. Their righty ace is 2-2 with an impressive 2.35 ERA. Greene did have an uncharacteristically tough game in his last start against the Baltimore Orioles only going three innings while giving up six hits and five runs. The Rockies will counter with Antonio Senzatela who is 1-3 with a 4.81 ERA. The righty got his first win of the season and his first win in almost three years going six innings while only giving up one run against the Washington Nationals. Senzatela is finally healthy after a extended absence from Tommy John surgery.
