The two teams will be meeting for the second of their three-game series over the weekend in Detroit. The series kicked off on Friday in the Motor City where the Tigers were able to come away with an 11-5 victory at home. Javier Báez crossed home plate three times in the big win, while Gleyber Torres added another two runs of his own. Single runs were then scored by Jahmai Jones, Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, Colt Keith, Zach McKinstry and Jake Rogers. Keider Montero pitched for five innings for the Tigers and gave up two runs to go along with his four strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Elly De La Cruz, T.J. Friedl, Santiago Espinal and Christian Encarnacion-Strand all scored runs for the Reds in the team’s Game-1 defeat. Nick Martinez kicked off the series on the mound for the team from Ohio, where he went for five innings and gave up four runs and eight hits to go along with five strikeouts.
The Tigers also won two-out-of-three against the Baltimore Orioles this week at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Detroit took Game 1 of that series in a 5-3 victory on Tuesday, and beat the Orioles 4-1 on Thursday in Game 3.
