The Atlanta Braves host the Colorado Rockies to start this three-game weekend series on Friday.

In their toughest season in franchise history, the Colorado Rockies are coming off their biggest win of the year and hoping to channel that momentum as this new series against the Atlanta Braves starts on Friday night. The Rockies are coming off their first walk-off win of the season in an 8-7 victory over the San Francisco Giants to avoid the sweep. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Rockies. This is the second and final series between these two teams this season. The Braves won the first matchup 2-1 back in Denver at the end of April. The Braves are a massive -290 favorite to win the opener here at home tonight.

The Braves are coming off a 6-2 victory in the rubber match game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Spencer Schwellenbach was special on the mound, throwing his first-career complete game and only giving up five hits and two runs while striking out nine. Ronald Acuna Jr. continues to rake since returning from injury, hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The Brewers scattered a run apiece in the second and eighth but never really threatened the entire game. Atlanta will hope for a similar performance on the mound tonight when they start Bryce Elder, who is 2-3 with a 4.08 ERA.

The Rockies are coming off a thrilling walk-off with Orlando Arcia hitting a two-run single with the bases loaded and two outs. After being down 0-2, Arcia loaded the count against Randy Rodriguez and persevered to become the hero. The Rockies looked down for the count almost the entire game, being down 7-2 at one point. The sweep seemed imminent. But Colorado scored six unanswered runs after the fifth, including three in the ninth inning, to shock the Giants, as it was just Colorado’s 13th win of the season. Colorado will follow that up by starting German Marquez tonight, who is 2-8 with a 7.00 ERA.
