The struggling Nationals begin a four-game series against the Rockies on Monday night.

With two of the worst teams in the majors beginning a four-game series at Nationals Park, the Washington Nationals host the Colorado Rockies for the series opener on Monday night. The Nationals have the longest losing streak in the MLB at eight games after getting swept by the Marlins and Mets in back-to-back series. Washington is now in fourth place in the NL East with a 30-41 record on the season and a 15-21 home record. Colorado, on the other hand, has the worst record in the majors at 14-57 on the season with a 7-30 road record and a league-worst -203 run differential. The Nationals will send righty Jake Irvin to the mound against Rockies left-hander Carson Palmquist in the series opener.

Most recently, the Nationals lost their eighth-straight game in a 3-1 loss to the Marlins at Nationals Park on Sunday. The Nationals scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, going the final eight innings without scoring a run. Dane Myers’s home run was the difference in the game for the Marlins. 

As for Colorado, the Rockies avoided a sweep with a 10-1 victory over the Braves in Atlanta on Sunday. Ryan McMahon got the offense going with a solo home run that opened the floodgates in a six-run seventh inning. Rockies catcher Braxton Fulford finished with five RBIs in the game.
