Kansas City Royals look to stop a short skid as they open a 3-game series with the Houston Astros on Monday night

The Kansas City Royals (24-18) enter the opener of a three-game series against the Houston Astros (20-19) on Monday night off their first consecutive losses since losing six straight from April 14-19. The series opener at Daikin Park in Houston marks the final meetings of the season between the clubs after Kansas City took two of three at home last month. The Astros played Sunday without left fielder Jose Altuve, who sat out with tightness in his right hamstring. The 35-year-old moved to the outfield this season and is hitting .259/.308/.374 with four homers and 14 RBI in 37 games.
